This program is designed to impart Social Workers with a comprehensive set of leadership skills and problem-solving strategies, enabling them to effectively address intricate community challenges encompassing domains such as mental health, immigration, child welfare, and systemic racism. Participants will acquire the ability to articulate and advocate for their causes/problems to key stakeholders, thereby enhancing client and organizational outcomes, and ultimately affecting social change.
This course employs an iterative learning process that engages social workers with a complex social issue personally relevant to them. This approach acknowledges the inherent complexity (“messy reality”) of social issues. Participants leverage the course’s analytical tools to critically examine their real-world experiences and gain a deeper understanding of the development problem. Through this iterative process, participants continuously refine their understanding and utilize experimental approaches to develop effective solutions. This ongoing cycle of reflection, analysis, and action fosters lifelong learning and promotes the development of impactful interventions.
This course is particularly suited for individuals in roles of supervision, management, and leadership, and those practicing as school social workers. Social Workers will gain valuable insights into harnessing the inherent influence of their profession, thereby empowering them to enact meaningful change within their communities. This course is particularly suited for individuals in roles of supervision, management, and leadership, and those practicing as school social workers.
