This session equips social workers with a framework for tackling complex problems. Through interactive activities, participants will revisit social work power principles, explore their problem-solving strategies, and collaboratively develop a framework for identifying and addressing critical issues. We’ll explore leveraging social work values and power dynamics to create positive change in our communities.

The educational goal of this workshop is to empower social workers to develop a structured approach to identifying and solving social problems while maximizing their impact by utilizing social work principles and power dynamics.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify 3 key principles of social work power and their application to effective problem-solving.

Develop a problem statement for a significant social issue about which they are passionate.

Collaborate with colleagues to identify stakeholders and strategies for mobilizing action.

Explain the role of social work power in influencing stakeholders and driving positive change.
