Description

As a QMHP, you are a significant part of care delivery to provide collaborative mental health care to adults and/or children. In an effort to provide systematic support, this QMHP training will cover the S.C.O.P.E. (Skill Set, Competency and Collaboration, Organizational Expectations, Professional Development, and Ethics) of Competency. The S.C.O.P.E. framework is a structured way to capture the essential tenets of training and development. Participants in this training will also learn flexibility Skills, multicultural competency skills, problem-solving skills and self-awareness skills. Types of services QMHPs provide, restrictions on scope of practice, and professional development requirements will also be covered.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to provide a foundational training for QMHPs in Virginia.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the board’s regulations for initial QMHP registration.

  • Explain the board’s regulations annual renewal requirements.

  • Describe the S.C.O.P.E. (skill set, competency and collaboration, organizational expectations, professional development, and ethics) training framework.

Dr. LaConda G. Ambrose Fanning, Psy.D., LSP, LSATP, RN

Dr. LaConda G. Ambrose Fanning, Psy.D., is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, and Registered Nurse. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Regent University with a concentration in Organizational Consultation and Supervision. Dr. Fanning is a part of the Eastern Virginia MedicalSchool’s with the office of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Fanning serves as the Director of Assessment and Mentorship Program, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, the Associate Director of the BNGAP Academic Fellowship Program, and has a Faculty Appointment with Internal Medicine. Dr. Fanning has a special interest in health equity, diversity and inclusion, religious coping, and the generational effects of trauma with URM’s. In the community, Dr. Fanning serves as the Past-President on the Executive Board of the Virginia Counseling Association.
