This training course will examine legal and ethical issues and boundaries, including client behaviors and issues, seductions, and circumstances, the presenting issues and configurations in therapy, and the personal issues and vulnerabilities of therapists that combine to increase the probability of legal and ethical violations in therapy. The presenter will provide examples from experience, including his participation on the Ethics Board of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists. Beyond current ethical and legal standards and law, the training identifies clients and therapy situations AND therapist characteristics (from well-intended to problematic) that lead therapists to breaching ethical and legal practice.
