This session will provide a detailed description and definition of pubertal suppression medication, the mechanisms for delivery, and data that elucidate their safety and efficacy. We will also provide information on how to assess the clinically appropriate timing for initiating pubertal suppression in treating and preventing gender dysphoria in pubertal youth.

The educational goal of this workshop is to equip attendees with research-informed knowledge about the safety and efficacy of pubertal suppression medication in treating and preventing gender dysphoria in pubertal youth.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Define pubertal suppression medication and describe how it is used in the treatment of gender dysphoria.

Identify the two primary mechanisms of delivery of pubertal suppression medication in the treatment and prevention of gender dysphoria in pubertal youth.

Explain three potential side effects of puberty blockers for the treatment and prevention of gender dysphoria.
