Body-Based Psychotherapies are not taught in graduate school. This seminar will explain the history of Body-Based Psychotherapies, their importance, and their potential to aid clients. Therapists will learn some techniques to down-regulate a client’s nervous system to use in practice.

Participants will gain competency in utilizing body based therapeutic techniques.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain why the body was originally taken out of psychotherapy
- Describe 3 key aspects of the importance of using the body as an avenue for information in psychotherapy
- Know at least 4 different types of therapies that use the body
- Learn at least 3 techniques for incorporating the body into therapy sessions
This presentation has been approved for 2.0 CE clock hour in Diagnosis by the Louisiana Counseling Association as authorized by the Louisiana Professional Counselor Licensing Board of Examiners.
Course meets the qualifications for hours of continuing education credit for LPCCs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
