One of the most challenging aspects of being a mental health provider is when a patient dies by suicide. This workshop will cover how to manage our reactions, how to communicate with the patient’s family/support system, and how to manage personal feelings of grief, loss, and at times guilt to maintain personal and clinical effectiveness following the suicide death of the patient.

The educational goal of this course it to increase knowledge about chronic suicidality.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify 3 common reactions of mental health providers following the death of a client by suicide.

Name and discuss 3 ways to allow grieving for the clinician.

Identify 3 warning signs that additional treatment is needed.
