Description

This workshop will focus on what is required to be an ethical supervisor and the ethical responsibilities of a clinical supervisor. Participants will learn to recognize unethical supervision and examine how small things can lead to big issues, including lack of documentation. This workshop will focus on cultural humility in the supervisory relationship and end by touching on the importance of ethical gatekeeping and remediation.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge on ethical supervision.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe three requirements of a clinical supervisor.

  • Identify two components of a supervisory relationship.

  • Discuss two or more multicultural and diversity factors in the supervisory relationship.

  • Describe two or more examples of unethical supervision.

  • Define ethical gatekeeping and identify two or more reasons why it is important to the profession.

  • Describe when and how to develop and implement a remediation plan in clinical supervision

Rebecca Smith, LPC, CPCS

Becca Smith, LPC, CPCS is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. Becca has been in practice for 24 years, and most of her career has focused on working with the college population. She specializes in anxiety, including social anxiety and OCD, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and working with the LGBTQ+ population. She also provides clinical supervision and has experience with training new professionals.
