In this 1 hour webinar, participants will gain understanding of the relationship science of anxiety and how this understanding is pivotal to the effectiveness of our work with clients and their families. Learning to navigate our own anxiety in our work while balancing the anxieties of our clients lessens burnout and increases our clinical effectiveness.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is for participants to gain clarity into the fundamentals of anxiety as a systemic and relationship process rather than an individual condition to be managed

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify 3 or more psycho-biological reasons persons have anxiety.

  • Identify and describe 3 or more specific interventions to use with clients who have anxiety.

Alana C Smith, LCSW, LCDC

Alana C. Smith, LCSW, LCDC facilitates virtual seminars on addiction, family healing, and emotion wellness and is the curator of the model How Families Heal. She seeks to enhance the efficacy of treatment for clients with the creation of a deliberate practice approach to psychotherapeutic interventions. She is a graduate of the University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work (2004). She is clinically trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Coherence Therapy, and Bowen Systems Theory with the Center for Family Consultation. Alana has managed treatment center staff and developed treatment and family treatment programs across the country. Her passion is to offer practical tools for healing to persons with addiction and families impacted by addiction by utilizing the science of human relationships and emotions. She lives in San Diego, California
