Description

This presentation is designed for novice supervisees and supervisors to help foster the supervisory relationship. It includes discussion of the rights and responsibilities of the supervisee role to help both supervisors and supervisees take an active role in, and get the most out of, clinical supervision. Barriers to effective supervision are also addressed.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is for participants to learn strategies to cultivate a successful supervisory relationship.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the three main functions of clinical supervision.

  • Identify 7 or more rights of the supervisee.

  • Identify and discuss three or more barriers to exercising supervisee right.

  • Identify 7 or more responsibilities of the supervisee.

  • Create an outline of a sample clinical supervision contract.

  • Create an outline of a sample clinical supervision session note.

Counselors

Social Workers

State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Jeffrey Quamme is the Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Certification Board, a workforce development agency focused on the SUD prevention, treatment, recovery and harm reduction industry. He is an internationally certified Master’s level addiction counselor and clinical supervisor, and holds credentials as a Certified Nonprofit Executive and Certified Nonprofit Consultant. He is an expert trainer as well as a podcaster and author.
