Therapists are learning there are many benefits to incorporating animals into therapy. This workshop will discuss best practices to meet the ethical and humane components of therapy when you include animals. We will discuss the risks and benefits of including animals as well as risk management tools and precautions to protect the clinician, clients, and the animal.

The educational goal of this workshop is to recognize the therapeutic benefits of including animals in therapy and learn best practices for doing so.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify at least two areas of risk when a live animal is included in therapy sessions and how to prepare and mitigate those risks.

Create a safety protocol for the wellbeing of clients, animals, and the therapists.

List three or more necessary components for preparing for the inclusion of an animal in a therapeutic practice.
