In this workshop, Dr. Jeremy Norwood and Joyce Dixson-Haskett will provide behavioral health professionals with substantive trainin regarding the issue of human trafficking and how it relates to their areas of practice. In response to the rise in the number of cases of human trafficking reported around the State of Michigan, the Michigan legislature has required all health professionals to receive training on human trafficking. Specific areas to be covered include the scope and magnitude of human trafficking, how human trafficking is defined, the types and venues of human trafficking in Michigan, the causes and indicators of human trafficking, potential warning signs for human trafficking, and resources to report potential cases of human trafficking.

The educational goal of this presentation is to provide training on human trafficking for behavioral health professionals required for licensing by the Michigan Bureau of Professional Licensing.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Describe the scope and magnitude of the problem of Human Trafficking.

Define Human Trafficking.

Identify at least 3 types and venues of Human Trafficking in Michigan or the United States.

Identify at least 3 causes and indicators of Human Trafficking (particularly in HealthCare field).

Describe at least 3 Warning Signs for Human Trafficking.

List at least 3 Resources or Responses to Potential Cases of Human Trafficking.
