Description

This workshop will provide an overview and insight into how adoption should be presented and discussed with those who are adopted. Information will be shared about what are the do’s/don’ts about addressing adoption with children as well as the appropriate interactions at various ages.

  • To gain insight into each party touched by adoption, including birth parents, adoptive parents and adopted persons

I’ve been the Program Manager of the Adoption Program with Volunteers of America Southeast LA for nearly 17 years. I’ve worked with countless birth parents, adoptive parents and adopted persons. I’ve conducted numerous presentations about a variety of adoption related topics to both social workers and nurses. I’m a certified trainer with Spaulding for Children to conduct Understanding Infant Adoption Trainings. I’m a member of the Louisiana Adoption Advisory Board and NASW Louisiana. I’m also an adoptive parent through foster care.
