This training is intended to provide an overview of Substance Use Disorder in people with Intellectual Disabilities. The trainer will identify biological, psychological, social, and family vulnerabilities for those with intellectual disabilities. The trainer will provide details related to polypharmacy, including identification and prevention.

The educational goal of this workshop is to increase understanding of Substance Use Disorder in those with intellectual disabilities, and their specific vulnerabilities.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Describe the DSM-5’s significance in providing operational definitions of how IDD, MI, and substance abuse may occur at the same time.

Discuss the relationship between Polypharmacy and Polysubstance Abuse

Identify at least five signs of Polypharmacy
