This training is intended to enrich the clinical and service capacity of behavioral health providers in treating persons with IDD/MH dual diagnosis. An IDD/MH dual diagnosis refers to individuals with an intellectual/developmental disability (IDD) who concurrently experience a mental health condition. This session will cover diagnosis, assessment, and intervention.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Complete a psychotherapy assessment and develop a plan for psychotherapeutic intervention.

Identify three critical elements to consider when contemplating the use of psychopharmacological intervention.

Discuss four common causes of cognitive/behavioral Intensification/emergence of symptoms like those seen in primary mental health disorders.
