Description

“Discernment Counseling” is for people who are at an impasse and considering separation or divorce but are not completely sure if it’s the right path for them. We will explore its definition, goals, structure, protocols and potential outcomes in the process.

  • The process of “Discernment Counseling” is different form other traditional models of marriage therapy

  • The goal of “Discernment Counseling”

  • Theoretical and clinical considerations for the process and structure of “Discernment Counseling”

  • Exploring session goals, outcomes and tasks for the therapist and couple engaged in “Discernment Counseling”

Louisiana Marriage and Family Therapists

This workshop meets the requirements and has been approved for 1.5 General hours for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists in Louisiana by the Louisiana Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Louisiana Counselors

The Louisiana Counseling Association is approved by the Louisiana Licensed Professional Board of Examiners to offer continuing education clock hours.  This presentation has been reviewed and has been approved for 1.5 CE clock hours for Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors.

This program was approved for 1.5 Clinical contact hours of continuing education credit by the National Association of Social Workers – Louisiana Chapter as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.

Dan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Approved Supervisor and Certified Spiritual Director.
He is the Founder and Director of the Pax Renewal Center in Lafayette, LA. An expert working with married couples as well as marriages on the brink of separation or divorce, Dan also counsels individual adults and families who are facing life transition issues, trauma, loss and griefDan earned a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans. He also earned a Masters degree in Christian Ministry and Renewal from Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio. His Bachelor of Arts Degree is in Theology, also from the Franciscan University. He also holds a certification in Spiritual Direction from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
