Description
A comprehensive new large-scale study of veterinarians has identified the most prominent causes of burnout, and has identified ways for veterinarians and their employers to reduce workplace stress and improve wellbeing. The fourth edition of the Merck Animal Health Veterinary Wellbeing Study, conducted in late 2023, is the most thorough examination yet of the factors that cause psychological distress, and what veterinarians can do about them. The research was conducted by Brakke Consulting in collaboration with AVMA, and sponsored by Merck Animal health. The research also points to specific techniques that individuals can adopt to improve wellbeing and mental health, and approaches employers can use to foster a healthier work environment.
Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the specific causes of burnout and lower wellbeing among veterinarians.

  • Understand differences among veterinarians based on age, gender and type of work.
