Description

In this interactive 90-minute presentation, participants will explore the transformative power of positive psychology. Suitable for mental health professionals, healthcare providers, this session offers valuable insights and practical strategies to elevate knowledge, understanding and application of positive psychology’s research-based principles.

This talk aims to empower attendees to become “Architects of Change,” actively promoting well-being and flourishing in their professional and personal lives through a blend of empirical storytelling, visual multimedia, and interactive activities.

Participants will hear groundbreaking studies demonstrating the power of awareness, emotions, and positive intention to enhance resilience, promote physical health, and slow aging. They will discover the benefits of leveraging character strengths for increased life satisfaction and productivity and know how to spot the perils of toxic positivity.

The session will cover the fundamental principles and theoretical foundations that underpin positive psychology, including:

Introduction to Positive Psychology: Discover the evolution of positive psychology through its three waves, from the initial focus on happiness to the integration of both positive and negative experiences and its current wave embracing interconnectedness and holistic well-being.

PERMAH Model: Learn about the foundational pillars of well-being—Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment, and Health—and how to apply them.

Self-Determination and Broaden-and-Build Theories: Examine how satisfying intrinsic motivation and basic psychological needs (SDT) enhances positive affect, which broadens perspectives and builds personal resources (BBT), leading to optimal functioning and well-being.

Deficit to Strengths Model: Explore the shift from a deficit-focused approach to a strengths-based model, enhancing overall well-being and fostering a more meaningful life.
