In 2018 The American Psychological Association (APA) piblished an article that ststed stress affects all systems of the body including the musculoskeletal, respiratory, cardivoascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, nervous, and reproductive systems. Today more than ever our social psychosocial environment are impacted by potentially stress-inducing events and circumstances. It is apparent that we need to support all of our systems coherently if we are to function dynamically and effectively in the world today. This Presentation introduces a psychobiological approach to healing that focuses on self and body awareness and explores how increased coherence between our heart, centeral nervous system and emotional system offers us the potentail to increase our ability to self-regulate from a more intuitive, intelligent frame of reference. Chiropractor and Body Centered Leadership expert John Amaral, will demonstrate a novel approach which draws on theories and principles of somatic therapy and somatic awareness, as well as polvagal theory and the scientifically validated hearthmath system. At the conclusion of this workshop, attendees better equipped with a framework for understanding how increased coherence between the nervous system, heart, and brain can theoratically support patients who present with stress and anxiety.
