Description

DSM-5 is the most widely used diagnostic manual among mental health professionals in the United States. In Spring 2022, the American Psychiatric Association released a revision of the manual, DSM-5-Text Revision (TR). The revised manual includes changes to each disorder’s background information (e.g., course, risk factors, and prognostic indicators), modifications in the criteria sets (clarification, wording), and updated ICD10-CM codes implemented since the publication of DSM-5 in 2013. One new disorder was added, Prolonged Grief Disorder, and two new Z-codes, Suicidal Behavior and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury. The program provides an overview of the use of the manual highlighting changes among disorders commonly seen in children and adolescents. Case studies and videos allow participants to practice using the new manual.
