ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental diagnosis that can impair adolescents’ and adults’ ability to function while negatively impacting their quality of life. During this workshop Dr. Fleming will discuss the diagnostic criteria and presentation of ADHD symptoms, including a summary of the neurobiological background. Effective treatment interventions for clients diagnosed and undiagnosed with ADHD will be discussed as well as medication management. We will also explore the impact of ADHD symptoms on relationships and the link between ADHD and codependency. In addition, participants will acquire practical strategies to improve session management with clients diagnosed with ADHD.

The educational goal of this workshop is to increase participants’ understanding of diagnosing and effectively treating ADHD in adolescents, adults and couples.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify two ways that ADHD can present in 1) adolescents 2) adults and 3) couples.

Describe two or more common ADHD comorbidities.

Identify three or more effective treatments for ADHD.
