Family Trauma and dysfunction: this is a 1-2 hour training on the different elements of the origin of family trauma and dysfunction, giving clinicians an overview of how their clients may have experienced trauma in their family or environment of origin. Many clients have experienced trauma in their family or environment of origin. They may not be able to recognize the patterns and dynamics because it can look so many different ways. This presentation will outline what trauma and dysfunction can look like in families and will provide an overview of how clinicians can help clients to begin to process it.

Participants will gain competency in treating clients with family trauma.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe 3 different ways family trauma can manifest in later years of a client’s life
- Comfortably discuss family dysfunction and trauma
- Assess a client’s trauma history as it relates to their care
- List 2 intervention techniques for clients who experienced family trauma
