Description

About 10% of North Americans are diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in their lifetime, and most will have comorbid conditions (e.g., depression, substance use, dissociation). Fortunately, effective evidence-based psychotherapies exist for treating these conditions.

This webinar will review two evidence-based treatments authored by the speaker that emphasize cognitive interventions to process traumatic events. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a first-line therapy in current treatment guidelines world-wide, recommended for individuals affected by trauma. Cognitive- Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT) is designed to improve PTSD symptoms and enhance relationship functioning in intimate partners. Dr. Monson will give an overview of both interventions, and also show video clips of actual patients to illustrate key interventions involved in each therapy.
