This two-hour presentation discusses what is involved in true clinical supervision and the reasons why it is critical to patient care and the professional development of the counselor. It’s a busy world out there in the front lines of clinical practice. If we don’t have a lens through which to focus, it’s easy to become reactive and spend time jumping from crisis to crisis. This is as true for the supervisor as for the supervisee. The Seven Eyed Model of Clinical Supervision allows a multi-focal lens through which to view the patient, the counselor, the supervisor, and other environmental factors. In other words, it is a model that provides the context for a holistic view that can inform care that is not just individualized but nuanced.
