Much attention is given to the treatment of substance use disorders, but how do we prevent substance abuse in the first place? This webinar is for anyone with a professional or personal connection to the recovery, treatment, and prevention communities on effective and evidence-based prevention approaches and how they correlate to the fields of treatment and recovery. Creating a shared language, dialogue, and tools strengthens the behavioral health field’s collective efforts to support individuals and families, work against stigma, and provide a holistic approach to healing.

Participants will learn basic principles of substance abuse prevention.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- List 3 basic principles of substance abuse prevention
- Define the 5 “social determinants of health” and list 1 example of each
- Describe 2 ways social determinants of health link prevention, treatment, and recovery
