Description

This session will provide participants with an introduction to the Intervention Certifications, CIP (Certified Intervention Professional) and CCIP (Canadian Certified Intervention Professional). Patricia Pike will discuss Intervention Theory and the principles, ideologies, and common practices used during intervention work. Participants will be introduced to the concepts and steps involved in various intervention models, such as the CanAm Intervention Approach, the Johnson Model of Intervention, and the Family Systemic Intervention Model, and differentiate between invitational and surprise approach interventions.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this session is for participants to gain knowledge of Intervention principles, ideologies, theories and models and CIP and CCIP certification requirements.

Patricia Pike

Patricia M. Pike, CEO of CanAm Interventions, is a Certified Intervention and Addiction Specialist trained expert with over 25 years of professional experience in the field of behavioral health treatment, specializing in substance abuse disorders and mental health conditions. Ms. Pike holds a master accredited certification in addiction studies and certified intervention professional certification.

Ms. Pike has conducted interventions, crisis and case management interventions, treatment aftercare monitoring and led education trainings for professionals nationally and internationally. Patricia is a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-II), long standing member of the Canadian Addiction Counselor Association Federation, internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the IC&RC (I.C.A.A.D.C), Certified Intervention Professional (CIP), through the Pennsylvania Certification Board and an Education Diploma (AID) and is on
the board of the nationally recognized Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS).

With her own personal recovery journey for decades, professional experience and educational background, Patricia is passionate to advocate for untreated individuals struggling with substance use disorders and mental health conditions and to provide supportive services for families affected by addiction and/or mental health challenges. Patricia does not end up in the lives of her clients by mistake, but through her vast experience, genuine nature, and passion for helping others. She is dedicated to creating a connection with her clients by utilizing a person-centered approach to meet her clients’ needs by using customized intervention plans and crisis or case management professional services.

Ms. Pike is a highly effective trauma-informed and family systemic interventionist of guiding individuals needing help to accept professional help. She holds citizenship both in the United States and Canada, which gives her a diverse professional perspective of working and using evidence-based practices in both countries.

Ms. Pike is passionate to support other professionals in the substance use disorder and mental health fields. She has facilitated clinical intervention trainings both in Canada and the United States that have helped many professionals to become certified intervention professionals.
