Description

This session focuses on the Storti Model, which is a model of intervention that has saved lives. The Storti Model is crisis motivated, as it can be immediately presented to an addicted individual and present a solution to seek treatment immediately. During Part Two of this presentation, participants will continue to learn about the Storti. Ed will provide information about the three elements of success and one minute prep. Participants will also gain knowledge about why this model of intervention is spiritually contained and the incision, Explore & Probe, Suture model of conveying hope.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this presentation is for participants to gain additional knowledge of the Storti Model.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain 2 aspects of planning to prepare a participant to participate in an intervention.

  • Describe 3 risk factors of the Crisis Intervention process.

  • Compare the pros and cons of the Crisis Intervention Process

  • Identify & describe the model of intervention (conversation) in being spiritually contained.

  • Identify the Incision, Explore & Probe, Suture model of conveying hope.

Ed Storti

Ed Storti, lecturer, author and international Intervention Specialist developed and refined his special method of addictive disease intervention, the Storti Model of Intervention, 41 years ago. Ed is an International and California Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor and Board Registered Interventionist. He has choreographed thousands of interventions throughout the world.

His authored books include Crisis Intervention: Acting Against Addiction (Crown Publishing Company, 1988) and Heart to Heart: The Honorable Approach to Motivational Intervention (Carlton Press, 1995, republished in 2001). Ed is also a contributing author of the book, Addiction Recovery Tools, Robert Holman Coombs, Editor, (published by Sage Publications, 2001). Ed devotes much of his time to education on the disease of addiction and the process of intervening.

Two documentaries featured on television that highlighted his Storti Model of Intervention procedure are The Party’s Over, Lifetime Television and The Journey Back, PBS Television. Ed has been a guest on the live Internet Talk Radio show, Voice America, numerous times.

Ed is the recipient of the 2009 Spirit Award from the Gooden Center, Pasadena, California, the 2011 Pillar of the Community Recognition Award from Sierra Tucson Treatment Center, Tucson, Arizona, the 2013 Joseph L. Galleta, M.D., Spirit of Recovery Award from Hemet Valley Recovery Center and Sage Retreat, Hemet, California, 2016 Ken Schonlau Award For Outstanding Contribution To Sobriety from Share Center, Culver City, California, the 2017 Award for Pioneering Efforts in the Intervention Profession from Evolutions of Addiction Treatment, Long Beach, California and the recipient of the 2017 Promises Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Annual Polo in the Palisades.
