Trauma is all too common in the clients we work with. Building Resilience for Individuals through Trauma Education (BRITE) is a program to address trauma in adults and is relatively simple to implement in a variety of settings. This workshop will provide foundational information on trauma, resilience, and empowerment as well as a basic overview of the BRITE program. Participants will learn to use the BRITE workbook and psychoeducational groups in their practice.

Participants will gain increased competency in using the BRITE model.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the core principles and practices of a resiliency focused intervention
- Describe the 5 components of an adult learning process that is integrated into the BRITE program in individual and/or group modalities.
- Implement the BRITE program.
- Differentiate trauma-specific vs resiliency building approaches
- Describe at least three ways in which BRITE is designed to empower service recipients
This presentation has been approved for 6.0 CE clock hours by the Louisiana Counseling Association as authorized by the Louisiana Professional Counselor Licensing Board of Examiners.
Course meets the qualifications for hours of continuing education credit for LPCCs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
