First-year college students face many roadblocks as they attempt to navigate their new space in the world. Some issues experienced during the first year of college include mental health issues due to being overwhelmed with change, academic barriers, financial struggles, social problems, and time management (Aristeguieta, 2023). To effectively assist this population in managing their struggles, it is important that counselors understand how to apply career theories/models to their unique issues.
