Description

During this online workshop, you will learn how an Introspective Art Journaling practice can help Therapists and clients contain difficult emotions, feel calm and centered and start building their resilience. Through different art materials and simple color and movement exercises, attendees will learn how art is effective emotional management and resilience-building tool. It’s such a simple art-making technique that almost anybody can do it. No previous art experience is necessary.

This workshop is for people who work in stressful or highly emotional environments and are looking to incorporate new self-care techniques that are time effective. It can also help people curious about art making but don’t know how to start their creative journey.

Educational Goal

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how developing an introspective art journaling practice can help with emotional management.
  2. Describe 3 or more ways that teen and adult clients can build resilience through developing an art-making habit.
  3. Name at least 2 art-based activities that can help individuals in treatment cope with difficult situations.

Nadia Fernanda Paredes Guapo

Nadia Paredes helps people connect with their inner creativity and empower their minds and soul through her empowered art programs. Nadia serves as current President-Elect of the American Art Therapy Association and is the founder of Nadia Paredes – Creative Studio, a bilingual resource for empowering, healing, and artistic inspiration.

With expertise and training as an Art Therapist, Intuition Painting Facilitator, and Licensed Martial and Family Therapist, Nadia creates programs for transformation, creativity, and art-making as a mindfulness practice. Her offerings include a YouTube channel and podcast in Spanish called Revolución Creativa, The Smart-Heart Method: Art Journaling for personal wellbeing, and Introspective Art Groups: a female-centered wellness program through Embodied Arts.

Nadia holds a professorship in Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City, where she teaches about art as a preventive Mental Health practice and is an Art Therapy Supervisor at Loyola Marymount University.
