Description
This course will highlight the key nutrients and nutritional biochemistry involved in addiction cycles and their role in the recovery process. We will discuss the prevalence of co-occurring disordered eating/exercise behaviors, why they so commonly occur in recovery from addiction, and how to identify “red flags” for these behaviors. We will discuss basic nutrition recommendations that help, and those that harm, in the recovery process, and how to know when it’s time to refer to a dietitian for more focused nutrition therapy.
