Description

All aspects of treating COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic have by necessity been done at one point, or another as a “flying by the seat of the pants” endeavor. Fortunately, scientists have researched the disease and developed treatments and vaccines created medications, and learned ways to mitigate its transmission. However recently more evidence has accumulated and been reported in medical literature around the existence of Long-Haul COVID-19.

While medical professionals are learning how to treat the physical symptoms, little is known about the treatment of the mental health aspects of Long-Haul COVID-19. The purpose of this seminar is to provide information on treatments that have been found to help patients with Long-Haul COVID mental health concerns as well as how to integrate what we know from the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic and the treatment of mental health issues caused by other lifelong debilitating diseases to best serve these patients.

The goal of this webinar is to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and treatments to address the mental health of patients suffering the ravages of Long-Term COVID-19. From this foundation, clinicians can immediately begin to treat patients while expanding their knowledge as more is learned about the disease and its treatment.

Since COVID-19 is a new disease that did not exist two years ago, there are few if any experts in the treatment of mental health issues associated with it. However, Dr. Kevin Blake has spent his career helping adults with chronic debilitating disabilities (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, and neurodevelopment disorders). He is highly experienced with installing hope in patients and their families as well as aiding those individuals in developing life plans and finding services for their needs.

During the pandemic, he has scoured the literature and studied the most current information from the top researchers on what is known about the treatment of mental health concerns of patients with Long-Haul COVID-19. In this three-hour webinar, he brings you, the clinician on the front line, this information along with knowledge gained from his vast experience. It is hoped this information will give you a place to immediately begin to assist and treat your clients with such difficulties.

Dr. Kevin Blake

Dr. Kevin Blake is a licensed psychologist who has spent his career working primarily with adults with specific learning disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and/or autism spectrum disorder as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders. During his thirty years of practice, he has learned how to help people with symptoms and disorders that are difficult to diagnose and treat.

Dr. Blake personally knows the shock and ramifications of being diagnosed with a debilitating disease for which there is no known medical treatment and nothing science can do to help. In his early 30’s he was diagnosed with what was then called Chronic Epstein-Barr Syndrome. He was told it was very likely he would be unable to work or care for himself for the rest of his life. His doctor stated, “you may have to be placed indefinitely in a long-term care facility.” Fortunately, with time, he improved and after many months he recovered. Additionally, Dr. Blake has close family members with rare autoimmune disorders that took years to diagnose and treat. His personal and professional experience has given him a unique insight into the psychological suffering of those with Long-Haul COVID-19.

Dr. Blake is a caring and engaging speaker who keeps abreast of the latest research and the development of new treatments. He is a competitive cyclist who lives with his wife, a retired psychologist, and two dogs in Tucson, Arizona.
