Trauma-Informed Primary Care: Fostering Resilience and Recovery, a Kaiser Permanente funded initiative led by the National Council, brought together national experts and thought leaders to develop a nationally applicable, evidence-based “change package” for advancing trauma-informed approaches in primary care.  This webinar will discuss the concrete components of the Change Package and its promise for creating resilient environments in which we can deliver high quality services and address health care’s quadruple aim.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Define the role of a Change Package as an evidence-based set of changes which lay out a practical approach for driving the integration of trauma- informed approaches in the primary care setting.
  • Identify trauma-informed care change concepts as opportunities to facilitate clinical and operational practice change.
  • Demonstrate real-world applications of trauma-informed care change concepts.

This program has been approved for 2.0 CE clock hours by the Louisiana Counseling Association as authorized by the Louisiana Professional Counselor Licensing Board of Examiners.

Peer Support Specialists:
The coursers are approved for 2.0 continuing education units by the Louisiana Office of Behavioral Health.

Addiction Counselors

Social Workers

Karen Johnson & Laura Leone

Karen Johnson is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in leadership and staff development, complex system change, individual and organizational resilience, trauma, trauma-informed approaches. She has expertise in leading national, state and regional learning communities promoting a culture of trauma-informed and resilient-oriented principles and practices across a variety of systems of care. She is certified in Dr. Brené Brown’s Dare to lead leadership training program. She is also trained in Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutic with expertise in organizational change management, out-of-home care, child welfare, transition age youth, Wraparound services, community- and school-based mental health.

Laura Leone, DSW, MSSW, LMSW, has worked in the behavioral health field for more than 20 years, She has provided training and consultation on integrated care, mental health, substance use, suicide prevention, evidence-based practices, value-based payment readiness and other behavioral health topic areas. She has extensive experience in bidirectional integration, engaging primary care in mental health partnerships and in specific clinical treatment modalities. Leone has published and presented nationally and has held leadership, clinical, administrative, supervisory, research and publication positions at a Federally Qualified Health Center; in private practice; at an in-patient psychiatric hospital; and at McLean Hospital’s OCD Institute.
