Description
This training will provide the participant with 12 hours of education in supervision methods, models, and techniques, roles and responsibilities of a clinical supervisor, techniques specific to supervising counselors in the tasks of diagnosis, treatment planning and providing treatment and evaluation of supervisees in their work of assessment, treatment planning and providing treatment. This training will also cover the ethical guidelines and legal requirements for supervisors, using the 2014 Code of Ethics from the American Counseling Association and the most recent Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners statutes and rules. Presenters
Dr. Sheila Babendir is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Counseling Educator. She is an Associate Dean at University of Phoenix, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She also is co-owner and clinical director of Abundant Hope Integrated Solutions, a behavioral health clinic serving the working population in Arizona. She received her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology in 2009 and a Master Degree in Counseling Education/ Counseling Psychology in 1995. Dr. Babendir is committed to advancing the counseling profession as evident through active engagement in professional organizations, conferences and initiatives that promote the evolution and relevance of counseling in our communities.
Dr. Babendir is co-owner and clinical director of Abundant Hope Integrated Solutions, a behavioral health clinic serving the working population in Arizona. She received her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology in 2009 and a Master Degree in Counseling Education/ Counseling Psychology in 1995. Dr. Underwood is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in several states and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP). Dr. Underwood is a tenured Professor at several universities for over 25 years, including Liberty University. Dr. Underwood is an executive with Forensic Practices of Arizona (FAPA), an outpatient clinic. Dr. Underwood consults with multiple inpatient and outpatient programs designed to meet the needs of children and adolescents with social, emotional, behavioral and pervasive developmental needs. He has held various positions within organizations, both private and public in the area of program development, program implementation, research and development. He specializes in the treatment for children, adolescents and adults with severe mental health, developmental needs, gang affiliation, substance use, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse, trauma, disruptive behavioral and sexually maladaptive behavior. Dr. Underwood conducts psychological evaluations throughout the country in the areas of Pervasive Developmental Disabilities, Best Interests evaluations, Parent Capacity evaluations, Sex Offender evaluations, Substance Abuse evaluations, and other risk analyses for the courts. Dr. Underwood has served as an expert witness in several states covering the said areas. Dr. Underwood has been recognized by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), American Institutes for Research (AIR) and the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) as one of the leading program innovators for community based treatment programs. Dr. Underwood has held a number of policy oriented research, academic, clinical and consulting positions over his career with federal, state and private agencies for research, program design, development, implementation and evaluation of services. He has authored over 75 refereed journal articles, 17 treatment manuals, books and technical reports on mental health, substance use, trauma needs of females, sex offending, forensic, spiritual and cultural needs of clients.
