Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least 2 ways a clinician’s psychological health, self-awareness, and unpacking of biases contributes to their ability to provide psychedelic therapy ethically and effectively.

  • Explain the value of therapists engaging regularly in their own personal therapy and inner work to manage countertransference, build resilience against vicarious trauma, and foster self-actualization.

  • Describe 2 or more ethical obligations for therapists providing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy to continually develop self-knowledge, emotional intelligence, and psychological well-being.

The educational goal of this module is for participants to increase knowledge about the benefits of psychotherapy and self-awareness.

During this module, we will appraise the importance of therapists receiving psychotherapy themselves and practicing self-awareness to provide effective psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Participants will develop skills for personal awareness and insight as it relates to providing care for patients.
