Educational Goal

The educational goal of the second module is to provide a detailed theoretical framework for application in clinical work to guide clients towards normalizing their experiences in their families that readies them for transformational change.

Description

In this second module, we will establish a foundational understanding of the research of human relationships and families. The research of Dr. Murray Bowen and Bowen Systems Theory details core principles in clinical work with clients. Concepts such as the Over & Under-Functioning Dynamic, Pseudo vs. Authentic Self States, and understanding stress and tension rooted in relational fusion will be covered in detail.

Alana C. Smith, LCSW, LCDC

Alana C. Smith, LCSW, LCDC is a graduate of the University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work (2004). She is clinically trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Coherence Therapy, and is currently a Postgraduate Fellow of the Center for Family Consultation. Alana has managed treatment center staff and developed treatment and family treatment programs across the country. Her passion is to bring a Deliberate Practice approach to the treatment of addiction and families impacted by addiction by utilizing the science of human relationships and emotions. Alana facilitates virtual seminars on addiction, family healing, and emotion wellness. She lives in San Diego, CA.
