Description

Treating substance use is difficult, and additional mental health symptoms can make successful treatment a challenge.  This workshop covers general diagnostic criteria for substance abuse and dependence, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).  The workshop will also offer strategies for successful treatment outcomes at an outpatient level.

Educational Goal

 

The educational goal of this workshop is for clinicians to increase their confidence in treating co-occurring disorders, and to assess treatment efficacy. 

 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Utilize DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria to screen for anxiety and Substance Use Disorders.

  • Identify at least 3 benchmarks for successful treatment outcomes.

  • Describe 3 alternative treatment approaches to co-occurring disorders and anxiety treatment.

Elizabeth V. Pace, LPCS

Elizabeth Pace is a clinician in private practice in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She specializes in addictions counseling, trauma related dissociation, and complex post traumatic stress.  She currently serves as the chair for the Advanced Integrative Therapy Institute’s Research Committee, and has published two papers on Advanced Integrative Therapy.
