Educational Goal
The educational goal of this presentation is to increase understanding of SBIRT and Tobacco Cessation CPT Codes and how these services can be integrated into clinical care.
Description
The presentation will cover: what are the SBIRT and Tobacco Cessation codes; why would you bill for SBIRT & Tobacco Cessation codes; what do you have to do to bill for SBIRT and Tobacco Cessation codes; who can bill for the codes; types of settings for the codes; the use of the codes with other CPT codes like psychotherapy; and the history of the advocacy efforts in getting support for SBIRT & Tobacco Cessation codes.

Presenters
Dr. Gillaspy is a licensed psychologist and, since August 2019, has served as the Senior Director for the Office of Health & Health Care Finance within the Practice Directorate at the American Psychological Association (APA).
Prior to joining APA, Dr. Gillaspy was a Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center since 2005. Within the General & Community Pediatrics Section, he served as the Associate Section Chief and Director of Clinical Psychology.
Dr. Gillaspy also served as the Director of the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline. He completed his graduate training in Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma State University and completed his Clinical Internship and a Post-doctoral fellowship in Primary Care and Health Psychology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
At the state level, Dr. Gillaspy has served as president on the Board of the Oklahoma Psychological Association. Nationally, Dr. Gillaspy has served as the American Psychological Associations Advisor for the Health Care Professional Advisory Committee to the American Medical Association’s Relative Value Update Committee (RUC).
