Description

The helping professions can be uniquely challenging in their heavy workloads, emotional weight, and lack of support. Burnout is all too common and has an impact on not just professionals, but the clients they work with. This presentation will help participants recognize early signs of burnout in themselves and in their peers, and will explore ways to fight this problem and provide the best care possible to clients.

Presenters

Tommy C. McGee

Tommy originally joined our Origins family in March 2015 as a primary and family therapist for the Headwaters at Origins and the Hanley Center. He then returned in March 2022 to Origins in his current role. Tommy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in Mental Health and Marriage and Family from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Since 2011 he has served as an adjunct professor teaching general psychology at Palm Beach State College. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), and he is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Tommy’s other past professional roles include serving as a clinical director at another local recovery center, the prevention and aftercare program administrator for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and a primary therapist. Tommy lives in Lake Worth, Florida.
