Description

In this workshop, we will provide information about levels and care with a focus on the levels of care that can particularly benefit adolescents. We will cover concerns about congregate care programs for adolescents and discuss possible solutions to the growing issues in residential care.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to identify levels of care and recognize the possible harms to long-term residential care for children and adolescents.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe levels of care for adolescents.

  • Name 2 long-term negative effects of long-term residential.

  • Identify 3 positive outcomes for community-based care.

Jessica Black, CMHC

Jessica Black, CMHC is the Director of Advocacy & Clinical Development at Grandview Family Counseling in Bountiful. She is also the Chair of the Legislative & Public Policy Committee for the Utah Mental Health Counselors Association. Jessica has worked in all levels of care including residential, inpatient hospitalization, group homes, and outpatient. She is trained in play therapy, EMDR, sandtray, TF-CBT, and couples therapy  through an EFT lens. She is a member of the LGBTQ affirmative therapists guild of Utah and the Utah Association for Play Therapy. Jessica is also a Utah approved MFT Supervisor.
