Description

This presentation will focus on how therapists take care of their emotional well-being. Clinicians and EAPS who provide debriefings or defusings often experience vicarious trauma. How do they handle hearing the emotional traumas their clients share? How do they take care of their emotional well-being? We will connect the ‘dots’ of self- care and ethical challenges.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify 2 ways clinicians experience vicarious trauma.

  • Explain 3 ways to connect 'the dots' on emotional consequences for vicarious trauma, moral injury, and professional compassion fatigue.

  • Identify 2 signs of burnout that may lead to poor ethical decisions.

Libby has developed and facilitates a retreat for First Responders. Libby has assisted in developing peer support and AA meetings in Tucson for First Responders.
