Description
This workshop equips healthcare providers with the skills to identify and respond to intimate partner violence (IPV) in clinical settings. Participants will learn effective screening techniques and how to recognize the signs of IPV while applying a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes the emotional and psychological safety of survivors. The workshop emphasizes the role of health equity, exploring how factors like race, socioeconomic status, and cultural background influence the experience of domestic violence. Attendees will gain practical strategies to deliver compassionate, equitable care that meets the diverse needs of all patients affected by IPV.

In her current role as the Health Partnerships Coordinator at the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, she specializes in enhancing healthcare responses and outcomes for domestic violence survivors, with a strong emphasis on integrating health equity principles. Shona is a Certified Mental Health First Aider and Trauma Educator, and she excels in developing and delivering training programs for healthcare professionals, focusing on trauma-informed approaches and effective domestic violence screening.
