The educational goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge of grief and the correlation between grief and addiction.

Description

This presentation will help clinicians understand aspects of grief that are not commonly acknowledged when working with clients who identify within the LGBTQAIP+ community. We will cover unique aspects of grief that LGBTQAIP+ individuals experience, disenfranchised grief, ambiguous loss and other varying grief experiences. We will also discuss
grief in the context of substance use concerns and treatment.

Presenters

Jennifer Ladd, LPC

Jennifer Ladd is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). Jennifer works with a great group of counselors at Prairieville Counseling and Wellness Center in Louisiana. She utilizes an existential approach to therapy that incorporates mindfulness based practices. Jennifer’s practice is non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and collaborative in an effort to cultivate trust, safety, and respect. Jennifer values all dimensions of human diversity and is an accomplice to the LGBTQAIP+ community.
