This workshop will serve as clinical training to discuss the DSM diagnoses involving psychosis as they relate to treating the substance use patient populations. We will go into detail about differential diagnostic indicators for the patient population, as well as the procedure to best work a full differential on the presenting patient. Lastly, we will discuss practical clinical treatment plans individualized for each diagnosis.

The educational goal of this workshop is to expand clinical understanding and practical skills for identifying and working with patients with psychosis.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify and describe the psychotic disorders listed in the DSM.

Explain how differential diagnosis can increase understanding of psychotic disorders.

Identify at least 2 clinical tools for managing both positive and negative psychosis symptoms as providers to the SUD patient.
