In this module, we explore the role of shame and moral injury in precipitating relapse triggers and events. Participants will gain practical strategies for transforming shame, moral injury, and relapse triggers.

The educational goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge about how to transform shame, moral injury, and relapse triggers.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Demonstrate one practical technique for helping clients heal shame.

Define “moral injury” and describe how it is formed in the psyche.

Describe one effective strategy for working with moral injury.

Identify a compassionate approach to addressing relapse and describe 2 reasons why this is effective.

Identify when a client is inside of a trauma-bond dynamic.

Explain how to begin healing from a trauma-bond dynamic.
