Developing a Transgender-Culturally Fluent Praxis: An Intersectional Approach to Serving Transgender and Non-Binary Patients is a comprehensive workshop designed for physical and mental health providers committed to enhancing their care practices for transgender and non-binary patients. Whether you are new to topics related to serving transgender and non-binary patients or more advanced, this workshop is structured to equip participants with the necessary tools and insights to build a culturally fluent, transgender-affirming practice. Drawing upon intersectional and anti-oppressive theoretical frameworks, the workshop will explore how transgender and non-binary patients’ clinical needs vary across identities, such as gender, race, disability, and socioeconomic status. Dr. Aydin Olson-Kennedy (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than fifteen years of experience in delivering mental health support to transgender and non-binary communities. His therapeutic approach and educational methods are guided by anti-oppressive critical theories focusing on intersectionality, power dynamics, and oppressive systems. Dr. Olson-Kennedy specializes in providing therapeutic support and psychoeducation to parents, caregivers, and guardians of trans and non-binary individuals across all age groups. He currently owns and operates a private practice. Central to his practice is exploring the experiences and impact of gender dysphoria outside the diagnostic framework of the DSM-V.
