Learning Objectives

  • Define the role of de-individuation in fostering Veteran culture.

  • Provide two examples of synchrony in Veteran culture.

Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to increase participants’ understanding of Veteran culture.

Description

This presentation will begin with a biopsychosocial contextualization of the typical Marine recruit, then move to a discussion of both deindividuation and the emerging field of synchrony as they relate to military life. Along the way, examples of the myriad ways military cultural values are reinforced will be provided. The presentation will conclude with considerations for “meeting Veterans where they’re at.”
