  • Identify 3 or more key resources to utilize to support ongoing ethical adherence for their private practice.

In this module, participants will increase awareness and adherence to all ethical codes as outlined by the American Counseling Association to aid participants in becoming ethical private practice owners

Description

In all that we do as healers, we must always be ethical first! The American Counseling Association has outlined our Code of Ethics to ensure ethical and effective care for the clients we serve. Ethics are not merely suggestions but rather the very principles we must adhere to in all areas, including establishing a private practice! This module is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of key ethical codes as they relate to the business of private practice.

Presenters

PaQuita R. Pullen, Ph.D, LPC-MHSP, NCC

Dr. PaQuita R. Pullen is the owner of Ubuntu Counseling & Wellness, a thriving group private
practice in the Greater Middle TN area. She is a proud Nashville native and two time graduate
of a Trevecca Nazarene University. There she completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Counseling with
an emphasis in Teaching & Supervision and Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health. She
completed her undergraduate studies at Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Pullen is also a
board certified counselor through NBCC. In 2019, she obtained her LPC-MHSP license for the
state of Tennessee. In addition to her clinical mental health training, she is a Registered Yoga
Instructor (RYT-200).

 

Dr. Pullen has worked in several clinical mental health settings including residential treatment
facilities, agencies, school -based and private practice. She has served children, adolescents,
adults and the geriatric population. Additionally, Dr. Pullen has worked in crisis care serving
individuals experiencing active suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, active psychosis and fleeing domestic violence. She is skilled in working with individuals, couples and groups.
As the owner and CEO of a group private practice, Dr. Pullen aims to create space for the
unseen, unheard, and underestimated.

Dr. Angelia Lomax, LPC-MHSP

Dr. Angelia Lomax, LPC-MHSP earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Middle
Tennessee State University and her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Long
Island University. She is currently the Founder and Executive Director of Nurturing Black Minds, a non-profit based in Memphis that is dedicated to providing necessary tools, information and resources to support Black Mental Health. Additionally, she is the CEO of Hakili Health which is geared towards providing corporate mental health consulting and developing organization-specific strategies for reshaping the culture of workplace wellness. Dr. Lomax has served a diverse clientele, providing services for individuals and groups in intensive out-patient programs, university counseling centers, and private practice settings. She takes an eclectic approach to counseling, presenting, and consulting using a combination of techniques and interventions based on the unique needs of clients, clinicians, and communities. Angelia believes that each of us have everything we need inside of us to be fulfilled. Her goal is to empower BIPOC individuals with the tools and information they need to progress towards overall health and well- being.
