Description

DSM-5 is the most widely used diagnostic manual among mental health professionals in the United States. In Spring 2022, the American Psychiatric Association released a revision of the manual, DSM-5-Text Revision (TR). The revised manual includes changes to each disorder’s background information (e.g., course, risk factors, and prognostic indicators), modifications in the criteria sets (clarification, wording), and updated ICD-10-CM codes implemented since the publication of DSM-5 in 2013. There is one new disorder added, Prolonged Grief Disorder, as well as two new Z-codes, Suicidal Behavior and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury. The program provides an overview of the use of the manual, highlighting these changes for each of the major diagnostic groups. Case studies and video cases allow participants to practice using the new manual.
