Approximately 36 million people in the United States participate in organized sports. This substantial participation underscores the need to look beyond the fanfare to understand the mental health needs of athletes. The demands of training, competition pressures, commercialization, and visibility of their performances can make athletes susceptible to various mental health issues. This presentation provides counselors with valuable insights, evidence-based techniques, and practical strategies for navigating the intricacies of working with athletes of any age. By addressing these mental health needs, counselors can help athletes achieve peak performance and optimal mental health.
